Post Problem with my Viewsat Ultra

Hi,

I have a Viewsat Ultra and I am having problems with the receiver.
It only reads "on" on the screen and it's black on the tv screen.
No Menu, No Channels, No Volume, Nothing. It's just a black screen.
I put the latest Improvement File. Did I do anything wrong?

Thank You

Did you check tv see if it's channels #3 and if you have option in back of stb to select 3 or 4, or are you use a s video cable

Talking viewsat ultra

some times when you put new file you have to set up the sats again and if that isnt it you might have to put factory file on it to bring it back to life

Check your cables between your TV and STB. Make sure they are hooked up right. Check your TV settings. Video 1, Video 2 or Aux 1, Aux 2 or if coax cable it will be CH 3 or CH 4. I use S video and RCA cables (Audio or red, white, Video or yellow). Good luck and let us know what you find.

Hi, Thanks for the Reply's

Yes, I checked all of that made sure if it was Vid, Channel #3 or #4.
No Picture. I have another Receiver and it's working with no problems.
The Viewsat Ultra I have, It just says "on" with black screen and then it dies and the screen says "0" then -------. Is the box dead? Thank You.

Getting a "----" on receiver display after loading latest bins first better check if you have a clone!

if its a genuine machine try this:

--download the All In One Loader and set it up

Quote:
http://www.fortecfiles.com/viewsat-f...t-loaders.html (Viewsat loaders)
--connect ur receiver to ur PC using the NULL MODEM cable!

--load ur receiver (PC>STB) with the latest factory file for ur specific model.

you might need to load it few times for it to work.!

then once u have a 00.00 display ...

--proceed with loading the latest bin ONLY!

--do antenna setup & other settings (as explained in the How to's & Guides)

--Autoscan each SAT individually.

another method when the above fails...!!!

If you have access to at least two viewsat (same model ORIGINALS not cheap clones!), and a null modem cable

you can use the following copying process (CLONING) to copy all the software from one ORIGINAL to the other ORIGINAL.

* - Have the unit that you want to make the copy of connected to your TV with the null modem cable plugged in.

* - Connect the other end of the null modem cable to the other unit you want to receive the image (plugged in to power, but not powered on).

* -On your remote go to Menu ---» System Information ---» Receiver Upgrade ---» All Information.

* Once you press OK... turn on the power button at the back of the receiver you want to receive the image.

The Main S/W, Channel Info., Satellite Info., and Key Data will all be transferred without you having to change and setting or do any channel scans.

Friend of mine had problem after loading improvement file. I try to fix with factory file 142,143 none worked finally I used the V0132 factory file to fix it. Then it came on and showed no chnl. until that turn on turn off thats all ultra did. Then I load new file with same cable (not USB) finally it is fixed. so if it is not a clone try V0132 factory file.

Hi,

The Viewsat I have is a Genuine Receiver. I loaded the Loader for it. And I got the latest factory file for it. (Viewsat Ultra V0143) I loaded this three times and I am still having the same problem. After done loading it would say "Inst" then switch to "on" after a couple seconds it goes to "- -- ---". I am not getting 00.00 on the display for some reason. I am using a Null Modem Cable and it's the correct one, I can't use the USB because the menu doesn't even show

You can use the USB to load while the Ultra is "Booting" up...

I would suggest you try loading the latest factory file using this procedure and then go on to load the latest release.

But... First toggle OFF the rear switch on the Ultra....disconnect the satellite cable in cable... Leave the cable OFF while you load the program/files.

When done toggle OFF the rear switch again and re-connect the cable.. then toggle ON... Always Toggle OFF the Ultra when working with the cables.

Review this link and Good Luck:
