Question I'm lost...can't save changed TP, Nagra 3???

Hi everyone,

Been away for a little awhile. Forgive my ignorance.
I'm lost with 2 issues:
Running 2 dishes, one at 110, 119, the 2nd pointed at 91, 82

1. I'm running two recievers and for some reason, one of them (VS extreme) doesn't have all the stations come in. Specifically with 110, 119. I checked my menu and sat set up and I attempted to adjust the TP (set at 12224) as the Q strength is currently weak on this current TP setting but when i adjust it on sat's 110 and 119 the reciever won't save my revision even after the reciever asks to "save changes". Why is it not saving and why would some channels not be coming in? Even funnier, this "black out" of channels only happens sometimes.

2. I'm lost with this Nagra 3 stuff? I see the list of channel switching but i'm not sure how it affects me? Do i have to do something to get these channels? For example, i have some channels (that I've noticed) that are listed but I still recieve the audio but no video? Is this how the change is affected? Totally lost.

Appreciate all your help!
Happy viewing.

Let's look at each issue separately.
1) N3 - this only affects Bev at the moment. On the main page of this site there is a link to those channels which have switched to the new encryption method (N3, DN and the rest of Bev is still using N2). To decode N3 at the moment you need a subscription on a BEV receiver. There will probably be a N3 fix released for FTA receivers sometime in the future.

2) It sounds like your dishes may not be correctly aligned. From your description, you are using 2 dishes, each with 2 lnbs attached. The elevation, azimuth and skew adjusted so that you are pointing one dish for DN (110/119) the other for BEV (82/91). as per Stevega's post check all your settings there.

3) What are your lnb settings, switches etc in your installation menu? Are all your connections secure? Have you tried starting from scratch - ie: loading latest factory file, the loading the latest fix and then setting up all your parameters and rescanning (remember scan in one bird at a time).

I am fairly familiar with the extreme and DN (I don't dance with Bev so no comments in that general area) and personally run two dishes each with one dual lnb (one for 110 the other for 119) running into a 4 X 4 22khz multiswitch.

The more info you can give the easier it is for others to assist.

Oh, and what are your settings for auto TP update etc in your setup?

Hi all,

Firstly, THANK YOU SO MUCH for the replies!
1. I think I get the N3 issue. It was explained to me as a file issue (from a viewers standpoint) other than hardware or repointing my sats. I was told to wait for Viewsat to allow all the channels to swtich to N3 and then Viewsat should release the new file that would fix our current issue. Am I correct in this assumption?
2. You appear to be correct in my set up. Two dishes. One pointed at 110, 119 and the second one at 91 and 82. Both go into 4x2 switches with each then heading into two recievers (9000HD and an Extreme).
3. Never thought about loading the factory bin and then loading the current bin to the recievers. Would/could that make a difference? All connections appear tight and secure.
4. My settings should be ok. Each port is assigned to the correct LNB, the TP is on 12239 and the recievers won't allow me to change it, for some reason. I change the TP, attempt to save and then go back into the sat menu and the old TP is back up (12239).
5. Auto TP? I can't think of where that is set up. Sorry for the ignorance but that one flew over my head.

Thanks again! Great support on this site!

Auto TP is found in the User Settings - Options section of the menu.

I have the same problem. When I change the TP in antenna setup, it just goes back to 12224 everytime. Is there a way around this, as I get stronger quality if I change the TP in antenna setup?

the original TP setting in the menu is the default TP. it bears no real meaning in what you are watching. the only reason to switch the TP's in the user settings is when you are fine tuning your dish..12224 on 119 is a spot beam so depending on where you live, it may give you a zero quality no matter how you move your dish..making you believe that you can't tune 119 in..for this reason, it is recommended for some people depending on where you live, to switch the TP to 12239 to tune your dish. no matter what, when you exit out of the settings then back into the settings, the TP will always go back to the original default of 12224 and maybe show no quality of signal even though you have locked in your dish..
