Newbie setting up first time...just a few questions
Hello everyone, I just recently joined fortecfiles and gained VIP status! I have just purchased a ViewSat Ultralite receiver and am in the process of getting it working correctly. I've done numerous searches and can't seem to come across the information I need so I'm hoping I can get some help.
My questions are mainly about the actual satellite and lnb's. I have narrowed my lnbs down to either being the legacy twin, or the DishPro twin. It has 110 and 119 printed on the casing and has two coax cables leaving the lnb's. I've seen the "identify your lnb" thread and can't figure out which one it is, is there any other way to find out? Now, my main question is about the Diesqc switch. Currently, the setup was just like the Dish Network installers left it a year ago when they installed everything. There is one coax running directly to my living room receiver (ViewSat) and on running to my bedroom (currently no receiver). Do I need to use the Diesqc switch or simply run one of the coax cables directly to the ViewSat? Also, when I do get an additional receiver for my bedroom, will I need the switch then or just use one of the coax cables for that receiver? There is already some sort of "switch" mounted under my house. It simply has the two coax cables connected to one side, and ran out through the other. There is a ground wire connected to this coming from the dish. Do I need to keep this "switch" or whatever it is? Thanks alot for your help, love the site! |

the dpp lnb has a switch built into it. so all you will need to do is connect from the lnb to your living room and then connect another cable to the lnb to go to your bedroom. im not sure about the legacy lnb if it has the switch built into it or not but i will look around and find out for you.

The LNB has one casing with two "eyes" on it. Currently I can't check it to see if it has any other writing on it, I'll check tomorrow. I've got Echostar 10,11 110W set to: LNB type: standard, Freq: 11250, TP Freq: 12224, DiSeqC: Port 2 (gives highest quality). Then I've got Echostar 7 119W set to: LNB type: Standard, Freq: 11250, TP Freq: 12239, DiSEqC: Port 1. Thanks for your help, I can't wait to start watching!
