LYOTO MACHIDA earned a controversial victory over Mauricio Rua to retain his light-heavyweight championship at UFC 104.

The Dragon was given a huge scare by his fellow Brazilian during their five-round war and many in the crowd were convinced Shogun had done enough to become the new 205lb king.
But the judges at the Los Angeles Staples Centre awarded Machida a unanimous 48-47 win.

The decision was met with jeers and the pair agreed to an immediate rematch — with the bout likely to take place early next year.
In the night's other big clashes, heavyweight prospect Cain Velasquez added to his growing reputation as a future title contender with an early second-round stoppage of Ben Rothwell.
Perennial lightweight contender Joe Stevenson stopped Spencer Fisher in the first round as he looks to get back into contention for BJ Penn's 155lb strap.
And Anthony 'Rumble' Johnson recorded a stunning KO of veteran Yoshiyuki Yoshida to underline why many see him as a future welterweight champion.

Cain Velasquez defeated Ben Rothwell by TKO (strikes) after 58 seconds of round two.

Gleison Tibau defeated Josh Neer via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28).

Joe Stevenson defeated Spencer Fisher via TKO (strikes) at 4.03 in round one.

Anthony Johnson defeated Yoshiyuki Yoshida via KO (punch) after 41seconds of round one.

Ryan Bader defeated Eric Schafer via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-26, 30-27).

Pat Barry defeated Antoni Hardonk via TKO (strikes) at 2.30 of round two.

Chael Sonnen defeated Yushin Okami via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).

Jorge Rivera defeated Rob Kimmons via TKO (strikes) at 1.53 of round three.

Kyle Kingsbury defeated Razak Al-Hassan via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28).

Stefan Struve defeated Chase Gormley at via submission (Triangle) at 4.04of round one.
