WWE superstar Big Show is being lined up to wrestle basketball legend Shaquille O'Neal in a very special battle of the giants.

According to reports in the US, the two will clash on a special three-hour episode of WWE Raw next month.


It will bring the WWE their biggest burst of mainstream publicity since seven footer Show took on Floyd Mayweather at WrestleMania in March 2008.



Although experts have questioned the thinking behind letting fans watch the match for free on Raw, shown on Sky Sports in the UK, rather than putting it on PPV where it could make the company millions.


Figure Four's Bryan Alvarez writes: "There are discussions in WWE about running another three-hour Raw in September and building it up around a Big Show v Shaq match.


"It might not work because NBA pre-season starts in September and the timing may just be impossible.


"But the entire idea that they'd put that match on free TV and not PPV is mind-boggling, especially with some of the recent PPV buy rates."

Shaq and Show set the seeds for their match on Raw a fortnight ago, when the 7'1 NBA star was acting as guest host and ended up pushing Show out of the ring.


O'Neal is currently a TV show where he challenges different sportsmen at their own game. He will swim against Michael Phelps, box Oscar De La Hoya and take on Serena Williams at tennis.



Previous basketball players to try their hand at wrestling include Dennis Rodman and Karl Malone.
