Thumbs up F. Gore of the S.F. 49ers

Gore's work ethic paying off

49ers RB Frank Gore hasn't taken a day off through the first
10 days of camp, and hasn't asked for one either. That
effort and energy is catching on with his offensive linemen
and others. The coaches are closely monitoring Gore's
workload to make sure he stays healthy and fresh, and though
he will be limited in Friday's exhibition opener against
Denver, it's clear that he's motivated to have a huge year.
The 26-year-old returned to the University of Miami for his
offseason regimen this offseason, rededicating himself to
the kind of training that worked so well for him in 2006.
It's been paying off as Gore is in excellent physical shape
and is working hard despite the blazing heat in San
Francisco. "I think he has the eye of the tiger this year,"
said Niners offensive coordinator Jimmy Raye. "From what
I've seen, his work ethic has been outstanding and he's
looking forward to a good year - and we are looking forward
to him having one."

Gore has been nicked up the past two seasons but thinks his
return to Miami to train will keep him fresh. We like the
improved 49ers' O-line and receiving corps and think both
might help Gore post big yards and touchdowns this season.
The bottom line is that Gore is the one of the rare NFL
running backs who won't share the ball much, get plenty of
catches as well as carries and work in the end zone. He's a
legit first-round pick and No. 1 Fantasy RB that owners
should lean on this season.

Thumbs up J. Raye likes how Gore is playing!

This is in addtion to my previous post:

49ers offensive coordinator Jimmy Raye said Wednesday he has
been impressed with RB Frank Gore so far during training
camp. "From what I've seen and the guys that I've had, he
has had an outstanding training camp," Raye said. "His
weight is down, his body is rocked up, he's ready to go.
He's been exceptional in training camp if I were to compare
him with other guys that I've had that were in an elite
category in terms of runners, he's been exceptional."

Gore is poised for a big season with the 49ers this year
under Raye and coach Mike Singletary. We like Gore as a No.
1 Fantasy RB worth a pick in the first round in all leagues.

Thumbs up F. Gore rehabbing during bye week

This is an update on Frank Gore's status:
Frank Gore was among a small group of San Francisco 49ers to
stick around during the entire bye week. He was looking
forward to working hard with rookie receiver and top draft
pick Michael Crabtree, who finally signed Oct. 7 and is set
to make his NFL debut next Sunday at Houston. "Me and
Crabtree are going to get it done," Gore said.

The 49ers' star running back has missed the last two games
because of a right ankle he injured on his only carry during
a 27-24 loss at Minnesota on Sept. 27. Gore returned to
practice this week and is expected to play for San Francisco
(3-2) against the Texans. Gore could have a big game against
a poor Texans run defense and will probably be a must-start
for that Week 7 game.
