New York, NY (Sports Network) - Orlando Magic forward Rashard Lewis has been suspended by the NBA for the first 10 games of the upcoming 2009-10 season after testing positive for an elevated testosterone level.

Lewis stated that he unwittingly took an over-the-counter supplement late last season that included a substance banned by the NBA.

"First and foremost I take full responsibility for the situation and accept the corresponding penalty," Lewis said in a statement released by the team. "I apologize to Magic fans, my teammates and this organization for not doing the research that should come with good judgment."

Lewis was an instrumental member of a Magic team that reached the NBA Finals last season before falling to the Lakers in five games. He averaged 19.0 points, 6.4 rebounds and 2.9 assists in the playoffs.

During the regular season, his 11th in the league and second in Orlando, Lewis averaged 17.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 79 games. The sharp- shooter bettered his career three-point shooting mark of 39.1 percent in both the regular season (39.7) and playoffs (39.4) in 2008-09.

I am very tired of hearing of these atlethes taking roids. Kids look up to the athletes. I can 't money can do anything to anybody. If I ever get into the professional sports world i would never do tis stuff. i wonder why he is taking steriods in the nba. All roids do to you is make you slower.It makes me angry. Like I said before all these players that take steriods should be banned. from their sports. Even my favorite linebacker Shawne Merriman. Rahsad Lewis should be banned from the sport and stop lying that he unwilling took them that just a big lie.
