ATLANTA (UPI) -- The NHL's Atlanta Thrashers have re-signed restricted free agent goaltender Kari Lehtonen.

No terms were disclosed, but the Atlanta Journal-Constitution said the Lehtonen, 25, took a one-year qualifying offer before Wednesday's acceptance deadline.

Lehtonen, the second overall pick in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, earned $3 million last season.

The native of Helsinki, Finland, missed time last season because of back and head injuries, and in 46 contests amassed a 19-22-3 record with three shutouts, a 3.06 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage.

He established single-season and career-highs in games played (68), starts (66), wins (34), shutouts (four), shots (2,075) and saves (1,892) in 2008-09 and is Atlanta's all-time leader among goaltenders in games played (204), wins (94), shutouts (14), and save percentage (.912).
