MIAMI (UPI) -- Commissioners in Dade County, Fla., have approved a series of minor technical changes to the proposed new Florida Marlins Stadium, The Miami Herald said.
The plan to construct the facility in the Little Havana section of Miami potentially will cost $515 million and Friday county officials told the newspaper they are hoping to break ground July 18.
The Miami City Commission made a similar vote on Thursday.
The report added that County Manager George Burgess is concerned a court case would derail the stadium plans. Two anti-stadium activists have sought a temporary court injunction that could delay the sale of construction bonds necessary to finance the project.
Burress called the suit "extremely frivolous."
A previous court challenge by auto dealer Norman Braman was defeated.
Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Lawrence Schwartz is expected to make a decision on the injunction issue by Monday.
