PENSACOLA, Fla. (UPI) -- Former NBA referee Tim Donaghy will enter a halfway house in Tampa, Fla., after being released from a federal prison, sources say.

Without naming its sources, the St. Petersburg (Fla.) Times reported Donaghy would be released Wednesday from a federal prison camp in Pensacola, Fla., to a Tampa halfway house, after serving a 15-month sentence on two federal conspiracy charges.

Donaghy pleaded guilty in 2007 to charges he used information not available to the public to bet on NBA games, the newspaper said.

TAMPA, Fla. (UPI) -- Former NBA referee Tim Donaghy has been returned to jail in Florida for allegedly violating terms of his probation for a gambling conviction, authorities said.

Donaghy, 42, of Bradenton, was arrested Monday by U.S. marshals and ordered held without bail in a Hillsborough County jail in Tampa, the St. Petersburg, (Fla.) Times reported Tuesday. Details of the alleged probation violation were not released.

Donaghy had been given a 15-month prison sentence for using inside information to bet on NBA games and for supplying the information to other gamblers, the Times reported.

He was scheduled for release in October after serving part of his sentence in a prison in Pensacola and a halfway house in Tampa, the Times said.
