DN sues ESPN over carriage dispute

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — DN has filed a breach-of-contract lawsuit accusing ESPN of offering better terms to the satellite TV provider's competitors than to DN.
The lawsuit filed this week in federal court in New York accuses ESPN of breaking a 2005 agreement with DN by offering Comcast Corp. and DaveTV Inc. better provisions than it offered DN to carry ESPN's networks, including ESPN Classic and ESPNU.
But ESPN spokeswoman Katina Arnold said Thursday that ESPN is in full compliance with the agreement and will vigorously defend the legal action.
Englewood-based DN is seeking at least $1 million in damages.
