I have confirmation that CW, Capt and VS will be offering the "Dongle" to their customers in order to completely thwart the up coming nag 3 card swap.

d8k/b8v will STILL be wide open even AFTER the card swap on almost all FTA which is compatible with this new device. The dongle is basically a cool little internet capable box that connects to your FTA (via serial or USB port) and allows it to download new firmware on the fly, keys, codes, weather forecasts, etc. It is 100% LEGAL and will convert your FTA box into an IKS box.

The dongle guarantees 100% up time and constantly flashing your set top box will be a thing of the past as most third party firmware will originate from Korea and be flashed directly onto you box when it becomes available.

What does all this mean? It means we can COMPLETELY ignore signal integrity at d8k and focus more time on watching tv as we will never be down.

This is a MAJOR breakthrough folks. All your boxes WILL continue to work after the card swap.

thats what testing is all about bro. also they are not saying to go out and buy one. they are only saying that this is a good thing for anyone who owns those receivers and will still be able to work.

Hi MOD I am using the dongle with my Captains and they do stay up through the ecm's. The only time I have been down is when they were doing work on the server's. I had also had a chat with Team Captain and he was very confident that the swap would not shut the dongle down. Only time will tell for sure though.
Now having said this, I am not sure how the captains will make out with the current delemas that are going on, but we did go down on the dongle a couple weeks back for a couple hours and then came back up so there must be someone still working on the iks. Our main problem now is that some of the channels we were getting are now scrambled on the dongle so I dont know what to think about the progress on the dongle for the captains but I hope all works out, if not its paid for itself over and over so I cant complain about it.
Hope I havent got to far off your topic but thought I would tell ya what I know about the Captains.

Quick question about this Dongle.
I have a "Dongle" that is a Bluetooth adapter for transferring data between bluetooth devices (e.g. Cellphone and 'puter)
Is this the same kind of "Dongle" , will any brand name "Dongle" work? or are they specially designed / programmed "Dongle"'s..
More importantly, where is be best place to be looking for one (manufacturer) when /if then become available?

From what I have read dongles are made for specific stb's, but I cant confirm that.

I switched back to the dongle last night and working great, still missing sum chans & a few very quick freezes but very watchable.
No regrets here on buying mine, keeps the kids and wifey happy and what more cud a man ask for.

Warlockreg if you dont already have a captain with dongle I would not sugest buying one at this point in time as support has dropped way down on them, hopefluy they get things straightined out soon.
