I just got my Kbox prodigy and the installation was very easy, but like many FTA enthusiasts the biggest challenge was to get the HUB to work even after properly programming it.
The one thing that I noticed in my particular case was that the little lights next to the Ethernet cable connection were not turning on. The red light will be either flashing or Static. In my perticular case I believe my problem was my router. I had an old SMC2804WBR, I replaced it for a new TP-LINK TL-WR642G. After configuring the router and connecting the KHUB, all the lights came up in the KHUB (The little ones next to the Ethernet connection and the top one). The top one turned green in about 15 minutes. I found out that getting the KHUB to connect to the Internet is very complex. Here are the list of things that you may want to check for: 1) In your Router check: a) DHCP Server is enabled b) I found better results with having the gateway on the manufacturer default IP 192.168.1.1 c) Disable the fire wall from from the router (I can not confirm if this helps or not, but I disabled it anyway) d) Go to your router status and write your DNS Servers (Normally two separated by a comma, you needed for the step bellow) e) The TP-Link has some (optinal) settings under DHCP->DHCP Settings, set the following: Default Gateway: (optional) 192.168.1.1 Default Domain: (optional) leave this blank Primary DNS: (optional) Enter your DNS from the Status Secondary DNS: (optional) Enter your second DNS from the status 2) In your KBOX receiver: a) Ensure that the options under Menu->Installation->Option are all off, exept for: Auto CH/TP Update which should be "ON" and Mode which should be "Network" b) In the Menu->Configuration->Network Settings, make sure that you set it up to DHCP so that it can sutomaticcaly pick up the IP address. Once you have the green light, you should see the following values under Menu->Configuration->Network Settings: IP Address: 192.168.1.102 (This might change) SubNet Mask: 255.255.255.0 Gateway: 192.168.1.1 (Router Default) DNS1: (Is my default gateway) You need to use your own. If you open your router status it will tell you under DNS Server. DNS2: 255.255.255.255 3) In your KHUB, make sure that the little lights next to the Ethernet connection are on. The KUB uses DCHP to connect to the Internet and once you have the green light you will be seeing requests for IP address like the following: ID Client Name Assigned IP Lease Time 1 DevilPot2B9FF7 192.168.1.102 01:50:42 3 DevilPot2B9FF7 192.168.1.103 00:06:30 Good luck! |
