Great News For Kbox Owners

ALL current K1 Hero units are eligible for an UPGRADE. What will happen is ALL these units will have their CURRENT processor chip, replaced with a NEW processor. This will allow for MANY more improvements to the unit to be made in the coming months. As each new development is ready it will be tested, then released.

The replacement of this chip will FINALLY give the K-Box coders TOTAL control over what is in the bins, as the SOURCE CODE for this NEW chip is under K-Box control, (previously it was held by the factory producing the units).

NOW the best part, this upgrade will cost YOU the owner NOTHING. The cost is born SOLELY by the K-Box people.

The FIRST units with the new processors will be in the hands of testers this coming week. The final details of how this "swap out" will be completed will be released soon by the K-Box people. I expect units will be ready for users in a couple of weeks, (the initial testing must be completed first before bins will be available).

In the meantime the K1 HERO WILL continue to see support for the foreseeable future, to allow ALL users to take advantage of the upgrade.

Do NOT contact your dealer about a "swap" yet!!! As the details are prepared they WILL be released via the various forums.

The unit will have a totally revamped GUI and new look/feel to it. I have already seen the rudimentary versions and it is VERY crisp, clean, and easy to use. The picture quality is actually IMPROVED even further, (It looks FANTASTIC via Component cables).

I have been told of future developments/plans and I must say if each one is implemented look for the K-Box to quickly become the center piece of most testers inventory.

This portion is MY PERSONAL opinion...

This move for me solidifies the commitment K-Box is/has made to it's owners, and I see this positive development as proof of their continued commitment to providing LONG TERM STABLE support for their units.

In the coming days weeks there will be more info released....

Eventually, yes upgrading WILL be required, as the bins for the new processor are different from the original K1 and you will NOT be able to load a K1 HERO bin on a K1 PLUS or vice versa. At some point K-Box will announce a end date for K1 HERO bins

1. The K1 Hero will be coming to an end soon.
2. ALL current K1 Hero owners will be advised as to how to proceed to have their K1 HERO retro fitted with a new processor
3. This new processor will allow the coders to introduce more enhancements to our units in the future.

As far as I have been told it involves "re Chipping" the units so to me that would indicate the processor, nothing was mentioned to me in regards to the BIOS/CPU.

The same position as always will stated when it comes to NAG 3 when it arrives we will know until then all is just speculation.

the hub will not be affected, there is the option in the menu of the new unit to switch over to IKS but it has yet to be activated int he latest bin, (just as it wasn't activated the first few bins for the K1 HERO, nor has the PVR yet been activated they are working on other things but I fully expect them to be operational by the time you guys get units.


Turn around may be a few days, (I meant including shipping time), the dealers will already have re chipped units so the minute your receiver arrives, a re chipped unit will be shipped out immediately, then your unit will be re chipped to be used for a future swap.

It will be a REQUIREMENT that EVERY unit sent in MUST contain Factory bin and ONLY factory file. When the time comes a VERY prominent link to the factory file will be posted. Then when you get a unit back it will contain the NEW factory file and ONLY the factory file. I also know that HUBS will NOT be required to be sent in, not sure what else will have to accompany the unit. As I said all the details will be released before hand.
