CINCINNATI (UPI) -- Publishers of Haunted Attractions in Ohio have filed a lawsuit accusing Haunted World of using its name to lure would-be customers away from its Web site.
The suit filed by Haunted Attraction says the rival magazine's use of its trademark has cost it $200,000 in profits, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported Monday.
The two rivals are trade magazines for a $7 billion a year business. The Halloween Industry Association claims the final day of October is the second most revenue-generating holiday in the country after Christmas.
Neither company would comment on the lawsuit, the newspaper said.
The lawsuit says Haunted World began infringing on Haunted Attraction's trademark in 2006 through deceptive practices and "cyber-squatting," a term that refers to planting another company's names to attract business on the Internet.
