Flashing 8's

I have been gone a while and im still having trouble loading the puff boot file on my Fortec Ultra but wanted to add a couple of items that might help you guys with whats wrong, First off I can load the original Bin (2.29) no problem so that tells me Im communicating with the reciever and puter. When i turn on the reciever I get four 8's that flash across the front of the reciever then the "on' button is displayed. I have tried everything to load the puff files but get write error. any suggestion??
one more thing i did have the unit j-tagged a few months ago and this is the first i have used it
