Arrow Guide to Blind Scan on a Captive Works

Guide to Blind Scan on a Captive Works

Everybody thinks Blind Scan feature on a Captive Works receiver is very slow and does not work properly. I disagree with this. Blind Scan feature works very well and it is faster than other competitive software based Blind Scan receivers. Actually we don’t know how to Blind Scan on Captive Works; Of course it is not as fast as Auto Search but you will notice time difference between before this method and after. If you follow the instructions carefully you will notice faster blind scan, find channels that are only in your spot beam, also eliminates double channels problem.

This is totally my experience you don’t have to do this unless you like to experiment and discover new things.

First of all I will recommend backing up all of your existing data on your receiver by using upload data feature in Captive Works loader software. Here is how you do that.

1) Connect your PC and receiver with twisted RS-232C Null modem cable.
2) Power off the receiver from the back switch.

3) Turn receiver Off from the back and then ON the receiver; you will see 00:00 now press "POWER" key on front of the receiver panel to make it standby, the LED dot will display “- - : - -“.

4) Start LoaderV1.05.exe check if the right COM port is selected then select
Upload Data -> Press -> Start Button

5) After finishing, the receiver LED will display "-End"

A file with name “CXDatabaseV1.00.sdx” will be saved in the same folder where you have loader program saved. Just in case anything goes wrong we will have a backup for our receiver to go back to the previous stat of the receiver. You can also use this file to edit in Channels Master.

Before proceed for a Blind Scan go to

Menu -> Installation -> Default Reset -> Delete Satellite Channels -> Select one of the satellites in you list to start -> Select Yes -> OK

Now, Press Exit key once to go back to Installation and choose Edit Transponders go to the Satellite you just deleted channels and delete all of the transponder accept these listed

Echostar 8/10-110W-------------12224
Echostar 7-119W-----------------12239
Nimiq 1/3-91W-------------------12224
Nimiq 2-82W----------------------12224
Echostar 3-61.5W----------------12297
Ecostar 4-148W ------------------12224

Once you have deleted all other transponders; make sure all other settings for that one Transponder are correct.

Press Exit and go to Antenna Setting and Select the satellite for Blind Scan; Configure all other setting for that satellite for example, Switch Setting, LNB frequency, LNB type, etc,

Now, Press Yellow Button to start Blind Scan, percentage bar will go to 100% two times to save all updated Transponders and then It will start scanning channels. Do this procedure for all of the Satellites one by one.

I have done this procedure so many times and always got good results. If you follow the instructions carefully you shouldn’t have any problem.

If anything goes wrong, you can always default reset with ALL option and scan channels using auto search feature or just download your data file the one you saved before starting this procedure.
