CS 8100 HD software update procedure
Okay, did alot of trial and error and forum hopping piecing together info bit by bit but I managed to get the factory file and the new f/w to load finally. Aside from the factory file and the new software file you will need another file called CLEAR_SW_HD.BIN file. I will post this file in the FILE posting area. Follow this procedure EXACTLY and you shouldn't have a problem.
NOTE: Use the RS232 serial cable (dark gray cable)that came with the 8100 HD, not the one used for the CS 6000 (light gray cable)! How to update with current bin using CS Upgrade loader V3.01 for proper auto-roll BEFORE YOU BEGIN… 1) Just make sure each of the required files below must be unzipped 2) You must know where the unzipped files are located preferably a separate folder 3) You must Factory Reset the receive before you begin the following 4) Turn the receiver off from the back power switch after the factory reset. 5) Connect the null (RS232) cable to your PC and the Receiver 6) Disconnect receiver from the satellite feeding cable THE LOADER Open the loader; New loader CSUpgrade_v3.01.exe NOTE: Depending on your operating system (Windows 98, 2000, XP and Vista) you may need following three OCX files in the same directory where CSUpgrade_v3.01 is located and ALSO under C:\Windows\System32. 1) COMCTL32.OCX 2) COMDLG32.OCX 3) MSCOMM32.OCX How to apply the OCX file: Copy and paste the following command into command window (by typing ‘cmd’ on run) Copy the command line below (one line at a time) and paste in command window by clicking the “right mouse button” and press enter REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\COMCTL32.OCX REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\COMDLG32.OCX REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\MSCOMM32.OCX FIRST STEP LOADING THE CLEAR_SW_HD.BIN FILE… Once the loader is up and running, do not change any selection, simply click on “Browse” to locate and select the unzipped file Clear_SW_HD.bin. Upon selection you will see the file in the window, click "Start" and also turn the receiver ON from the back and wait for the file to download and complete. This will take 3-5 minutes. Once completed, turn the receiver OFF from the back and click OK on the completed pop-up. SECOND STEP LOADING THE FACTORY FLASH… Using the same loader program, do not change any selection, simply click on “Browse” to locate and select the unzipped file original Factory Flash CS8100-1220A.sgn (Change the extension to BIN - CS8100-1220A.BIN) Upon selection you will see the file in the window, click "Start" and also turn the receiver ON from the back and wait for the file to download and complete. This will take 3-5 minutes. Once completed, turn the receiver OFF from the back and click OK on the completed pop-up LAST STEP LOADING THE LATEST BIN… Using the same loader program, do not change any selection, simply click on “Browse” to locate and select the unzipped copy of current file e.g. CS8100-11220F.sgn (Change the extension to BIN - CS8100-11220F.BIN). Upon selection you will see the file in the window, click "Start" and also turn the receiver ON from the back and wait for the file to download and complete. This will take 3-5 minutes. Once completed, turn the receiver OFF from the back and click OK on the completed pop-up BEFORE YOU END… 1) Unplug the null cable from the back of the receiver and PC 2) Hook the receiver back up to the satellite cable. 3) Power up the receiver from the back 4) Let it auto-scan or scan as per your setup 5) Make sure that the auto-roll is ON and your settings are correct. 6) WAIT for the receiver to perform auto roll 7) Enjoy the TV Hope this helps!
