If I get a Diplexer and hookup like below:

Cable (TV) > Digital Cable Box > Diplexer > 800s
Cable (SAT) > Diplexer > 800s

Do you think it is possible to use the 800s to record from the digital cable box? Obviously the only channel the 800s would find would be channel 3 so I would tune the digital box to any channel I want and use the 800s to record to External HDD.

Since there is nothing do with the receiver now I thought I would bump this thread in hopes of someone replying and helping me out. I dont want to waste the money on a diplexer if it wont work.

diplexer doesn't work that way.

You would need a separate VHF input for the signal from your cable box.

How about simply plugging the cable feed into the Ant. input on the box.That would get cable to the box.Not sure about recording.you'll have to try it and let us know.Now you got me curious.
