CG's Review on the CW 800

CG's Review on the CW 800
Set Up

Took literally 5 minutes to set up, box had all it usuals so need to repeat, I unpacked and the hooked it right up to the TV. I set all the connections, then she was ready to be programmed

Programming
I took the latest release installed on my USB stick, then connected to the receiver, with receiver already on I hit the menu and went right to USB Menu, and then installed the latest release from my USB stick. started loading the SW and it was done in about 2 1/2 minutes, then it ask to reboot and I said yes and while it rebooted I removed the USB stick

Installation

Then proceeded to set my antenna settings and could not get a signal, well I quickly realized that this receiver like most of the new ones out do not like to have there source from a loop out, even with the front of the other receiver off, don't know if it is related to the new tuners installed or just a SW issue that can be corrected. So then I connected it by itself to setup and scan. OK now we have perfect signal I set all settings as I only set 119 and 110 as Bev is down at the moment. set 119 and hit the red to auto scan, then did the same for 110 both took about 1 minute and 45 seconds to scan roughly, big improvement from other models. OK all done and ready to set settings

System settings

OK I then set all my system settings including sort by SID and AR turned on, long channel names and icons ETC..., I then set accessories, to config city to set my locals, then went to set up wizard and set the time setting, then exited and was ready to test, press F1 000 OK and enabled the patch which I wish we would not have to do anymore, then I let it sit and took about 3 minutes to roll.

OK I then to make sure all channels were scanned and all looked fine, so for now this is all the testing for today I will test the PVR function next and all the other options such as pictures and Mp3 etcc

On a rating scale from 1 to 10 being the best

Ease of set up 9.5
Menu and OSD 8
Scanning 8.5
EPG 8
Picture quality 8.5

Items of suggestions, have renumbered for Bev, eliminate the patch set up, a different on screen display, other than that you have a winner here, I will test PVR during the week and report back

Cool

[I'm considering a PVR. If I consider track record the CW is the way to go.My only problem is the EPG.[/i]
Does the epg work better than the other models.
