USB trouble

Anyone else have trouble flashing the 8000 HD receiver via USB stick? I've had trouble for a while and have been downloading via null cable from laptop and just assumed my USB stick was the problem. But I bought a new one, downloaded and unzipped the latest file and put the stick in the receiver only to have it fail again. The unit doesn't even recognize a stick has been inserted. When I first got the unit it worked ok, so I know how it's supposed to work. The power light comes on on the stick but that's it. Both flash sticks were new and used for nothing else. WTF?

Thanks for the quick reply. One question though, when did this procedure become necessary as I never had to rename the file before.

I've had the same problem- nothing seems to help. You put the thumb drive in, nothing happens. Reboot, you might get a light to flash on the drive but then it goes out. Stuck flashing with cable- at least that works. No freezing occurring on the stand alone file either, so kudos to the coders.
