dongle info

just curious if any more info is availble as fare a first stable dongle on captain,
1) is this just making their system work again with charlie
2) were the 220 channels bev or charlie
3) any n3 breakthroughs
4) or did just get charlie to work the same as what we have now standalone

1- The dongle has been out for quite some time and yes it did work for both D & B, but this was before n3 hit bev since there has been no bev with or without the dongle on the Captains, and as far as that goes the dongle has been down more than up for quite some time.
There has been reports of them working on fixing n3 with the dongle but I was also told before n3 hit that they would have bev working fairly quickly and that has not been the case.
This is just my personal opinion for whatever its worth, if you dont have a dongle save your money.

Dongle (IKS) solution for all Captain models

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dongle (IKS) solution for all Captain models

IKS Internet Key Sharing

Captain is now the FIRST FTA STB to have a STABLE Dongle (IKS)
solution and the first to have a High Definition receiver working through IKS
It is with great pleasure we announce to you that we now have a working Dongle (IKS) solution for all Captain models.
Currently the Dongle is working stable on about 220 channels which include all PPV and Adult.
Also, there is one HD channel working on the Captain 8000HD to show that the solution is HD compatible.
The rest of the channels will be added shortly!

It does look like the post that came out when the dongle was first introduced.
Well all I can tell you is there hasn't been much progress with the dongle for quite some time. It would be nice if they get it figured out before bev switches to 8psk which I hear is suppose to happen in April so after that we have a SD box only.

Very good questions I'm sure we would all like to hear something from TEAM CAPTAIN or some MODS who have some inside info. My friends want to buy but I told them to hang on until there is more info released. I'm sure there are many more people who are waiting also.

TC is concerned at this point with the N3 issues and content to have their STBs up and running on standalone files. Since no one has been plagued by massive outages, the Dongle servers are closed for the moment.

Patience is a virtue and should TC come good on their work on the N3 situation, then it would be a "huge feather in their caps". Other sites are reporting that TC is getting close to having the IKS up and running . Time will tell. Until then, be happy that the standalone files are working just fine.

Thanks GrnMachine and I am hoping they do get it figured out the dongle as this would give the Captain users the best of both worlds.
