trouble flashing stb V659

My captain 8000 is working but freezing keeps freezing every 10 minutes using v658. I can't seem to get my usb to flash the v659 file(no download menu appears ). How do you bring up a download menu manually? This is probably a simple thing but I'm pretty new to fta, any help would be greatly appreciated .

Here are a few different methods that are reported to work let me know if any help you, I have only had problems a few times and I just hard reboot and it picks it up but this dont work for all.

Owners: you can't use this quicktip if you do a factory reset prior to loading a new bin

So....don't factory reset, view channel 1198 (an unecrypted channel for b3v) insert USB and voila!
end of c/p

Hey Good news. I fixed the issue. All my USB flash drives detect. But the issue lies within the bin files:

* Captain8000HD_V653_20080722
* Captain8000HD_V654_20080723

For some reason, as soon as I upgrade to any of these files the USB functionality fails. All I did was set the STB to factory defaults. You will need:

1. Serial Cable
2. Captain_Loader_v1.26
3. CaptainHD Serial Installation Guide (The Instructions)
4. Captain8000HD_factory (factory default file)

Follow the instructions and you will be back to factory defaults. I you plug in your USB drive, it will work. (If/when you then upgrade to 653 or 654 you will lose the USB functionality).

end c/p

1. Insert the USB into STB light on USB should light up, leave the USB in the STB.
2. Power off the STB from the front, wait a few seconds.
3. Power on the STB from the front when the word BOOT appears on the STB
quickly press the Menu button on the STB and release. The USB should work.

end c/p

Should have also told you that there is no way that I know of to manually bring up your usb.
Good luck I hope one of the methods works for you, let me know if they do or dont work for you.
So far 659 is working great here.

Thanks for trying mental. None of the methods has worked for v659. I guess I'll have to wait until the captain has a new file this has happened with a couple other files too.My captain spends way more time down than up it seems.
