Nimiq 4 is NOW online at 82 degrees West
Nimiq 4 has entered into commercial service after it successfully completed orbit raising and comprehensive in-orbit testing.
The satellite, which is located at
82 degrees West, is equipped with 32 active high-power transponders in Ku-band and eight in Ka-band. The spacecraft has a solar array span of 39 meters, an expected 15-year mission life, and a launch mass of approximately 4850 kg.
Note: It has been reported that in the Southern United States that signal loss has been reported. Seems the new Stronger Nimiq 4 has a narrowed Beam concentrated at Canada.
Here is a couple post I came across:
Quote:
Only getting 21 channels in Western NC, US. Used to get them all.... (this was with small dish)
Moved my 39" dish to 82 and got most channels back, however quality is in the low 40's. Will tweak soon to see if I can improve quality.

Bev users should have known that the newer satellites would possibly have a more focused beam. We saw that signal loss a few years back when Bev leased a DTV satellite for a period of time.
